Variable Valve Height Control

ThyssenKrupp Presta Camshafts helps the engine breath environmentally.

With the newly developed continuous variable valve train, PDVC ThyssenKrupp Presta Camshafts sets new benchmarks with regard to improving fuel consumption, reducing exhaust gas emissions and enhancing the driving experience for all kinds of combustion engines for all vehicles.

With PDVC, the valve lift of an engine is controlled independently from the engine speed and load. This makes ‘load’ control for the engine using the valves’ lift possible. Normally the throttle controls the load but with PDVC the valve directly controls the load. In particular when the engine operates at part-load range this leads to improved combustion and therefore less fuel consumption. Simultaneously the increased air inflow velocity causes a better fuel mixture and improved combustion. This improves the performance of the motor and the combustion process reducing the harmful exhaust particles. To obtain full valve control, only the phasing of the intake camshaft has to be controlled. (i.e. with a Camshaft Phaser)

The only remaining component required to achieve a fully variable valve train is a standard camshaft phaser to adjust the timing of the camshaft itself.

Today with PrestaDeltaValveControl you already fulfill the engine requirements of tomorrow.
